Sometimes, in the middle of a really intense read, I need a dose of light and fluffly romance. Here is a selection of books, tv shows, movies and music that, in my experience, are guaranteed to give you that tingly feeling in your stomach!
- Love Actually! – The ultimate romantic comedy – this list would not be complete without it. It’s a long watch (just over two hours, I believe) but definitely feel good, and, really, who can beat little Sam running through Heathrow? *Sighs*
- Twilight - Books or film. ‘Nuff said.
- Queer As Folk – This is a five-season-long love story, completely wrenching and torturous in the beginning, but totally worth it. Brian and Justin are right up there with Romeo and Juliet and Edward and Bella.
- The Day After Tomorrow – Pretty intense, the romantic bits may be few and far between, but worth it. And it has Jake Gyllenhaal.
- A River Flows In You- This is a piano piece composed by Yiruma. It’s just… beautiful. It made me want to CRY. And I haven’t cried since… 2005. Give it a chance and find it on YouTube here.
- Edward Scissorhands- Johnny Depp… before he was all ‘hot’. But he’s absolutely just as sweet! I really, really find it hard to believe that this hasn’t become a bigger hit.
- 27 Dresses – I cried like a baby at the Keller wedding. The end.
- His Dark Materials – Okay, this is DEFINITELY an intense read, but there are a few heart-wrenching bits towards the end of the third book (The Amber Spyglass.)
- Juno- Sweet. Just… sweet. Ellen Page and Michael Cera belong together.
- Friends – Good for so many things, but Ross and Rachel? The DEFINITIVE tv couple.
This is a work in progress, so I’ll probably add to it in the future. Any suggestions are welcome!
